ORIGIN

Created by writer Jung Hwa Choo and composer Huh Soo-hyun, the musical premiered in 2016 at Hyundai Card Understage in Seoul as part of the “Kim Soo-ro Project” series. Conceived as a compact, dialogue-driven thriller, it rapidly gained attention for its minimal cast, psychological structure, and staging flexibility. The work later entered overseas development, first in New York and subsequently through licensing in China.

STORY

A young applicant named Matt Sinclair visits the office of Eugene Kim, a best-selling crime novelist, under the pretext of applying for an assistant position. Their conversation turns into a tense interrogation when Eugene reveals a suicide note connected to a serial killer known as “The Ophelia Murderer.” As memories and identities blur, the truth behind a decade-old crime is gradually unearthed, pushing both men toward confession and collapse. The show combines thriller pacing, sparse set design, and a character-focused score that shifts between spoken-sing and lyrical monologue.
