Ước mơ của em

My Dream (마이 드림) is a Korean–Vietnamese co-developed youth musical that began as a cross-border creation project and has so far been presented only in reading showcase format. Although not yet fully staged, it is included here because the work has already been publicly performed in both countries and is moving toward a 2026 Vietnam premiere and 2027 Korea run.

ORIGIN

Developed through a Korea–Vietnam joint musical incubation program led by SangsangMaru (Korea) and the Vietnam Youth Theatre, based on Nguyễn Thị Thanh Thanh’s award-winning script Ước mơ của em (“My Dream”). The musical was selected as the grand prize winner of Vietnam’s first national youth musical script competition and later adapted into a Korean musical book by Kim Garam, with music by Lim Seyoung. The project is backed by a formal MOU between Guri Cultural Foundation (Korea), SangsangMaru, and the Vietnam Youth Theatre, establishing a long-term co-production pipeline.

STORY

Linh, a girl living with disabilities caused by Agent Orange, dreams of designing technology that can help others like her, but finds the world resistant to change. Her cousin Bao longs to become a game programmer, yet the adults around him refuse to recognize his path as a “real future.” When Bao becomes increasingly absorbed in his virtual-world characters and the line between reality and fantasy blurs, Linh and Bao’s conflicting dreams collide and ultimately converge. The musical explores resilience, community support, and the belief that every dream—regardless of circumstance—deserves respect.
