13 Typical Duration of Musicals

In Korea, most musicals run for a span of 3 to 6 months, depending on their popularity and scale. Unlike Broadway or West End productions, open-ended run performances—where shows continue indefinitely based on ticket sales—are relatively rare. This limited timeframe means audiences often need to plan in advance to secure tickets before the run ends.

Examples of 3 limited-run shows: 어쩌면 해피엔딩 (Maybe Happy Ending, Seoul, 2024, left), Memphis (Seoul, 2025, middle), and 한복 입은 남자 (Man in Hanbok, Seoul, 2025, right).

Examples of two long-running shows in Daehakro, Seoul, Korea: 김종욱찾기 (Finding Mr. Destiny, since 2006) and 빨래 (Laundry, since 2005). Both productions are open-ended, with Laundry continuing through short breaks and refreshed runs but remaining essentially open-ended.
