16 Baggage Services
Korea
Large theaters in Korea generally provide free luggage counters for items such as suitcases, strollers, umbrellas, or sealed food. Valuables, such as small bags containing wallets or jewelry, are not accepted. These services usually open 30 minutes to one hour before curtain and close about 30 minutes after the show. Smaller venues may lack the space to provide this option.
In addition, many nearby subway or train stations offer coin-operated lockers, typically costing $2–4 USD for four hours, with the option to extend use depending on size and availability.

Broadway
On Broadway, coat check or bag check is sometimes available, but luggage is a different matter. Bags larger than what can fit under a seat are generally not permitted in the theater, and it is not unusual to see travelers turned away at the door if they arrive with suitcases. It is best to confirm in advance whether a specific theater offers storage. Any items that must go through security may also be opened for inspection.
For those in transit, luggage storage is available at Penn Station (around $6.99/day in 2025). Several private storage facilities near the Broadway district also keep bags for under $10, providing a convenient option if theaters cannot accommodate them.
