21 Exclusive Ticket Access

Korea

In Korea, exclusive ticket access is often used as a promotional strategy to encourage registration with specific ticketing platforms, theater memberships, or partner credit cards. Presales may release select seat sections up to 24 hours before general sales, or entire performances may be reserved only for designated groups. In such cases, the general public has no access unless they join the targeted membership program.

For example, Mrs. Doubtfire at Charlotte Theater offered advance booking exclusively for venue members before sales opened to others. Likewise, some performances of The Phantom of the Opera in Daegu were available only through YES24, restricting access to users of that platform. These arrangements demonstrate how exclusivity in Korea is tied closely to promotional partnerships, driving loyalty to particular venues, platforms, or banks.

Broadway

On Broadway, presales are widely used as promotional tools rather than truly exclusive offers. By joining a show’s mailing list, registering for a fan club, or holding a partner credit card, anyone can gain early access to tickets once they sign up. Major platforms like Ticketmaster and SeatGeek also run presale events.

In some cases, limited-time promotions such as Broadway Week provide early or discounted access. Much like in Korea, these presales are designed to encourage registration with a theater, ticketing service, or partner brand, while ultimately remaining open to all who participate.
