SYNOPSIS

(Full Synopsis)

Set in contemporary Korea, the musical unfolds across a cross-country journey from Mokpo to Jarasum, where four former bandmates reunite to pursue a long-abandoned dream.

Yeong-min, Min-woo, Ho-bin, and Byeong-tae were once members of a high school band, but have since drifted into separate lives. When Byeong-tae receives confirmation of their participation in the Jarasum Band Festival, he gathers the group once again.

Reluctantly, the four friends decide to travel on foot across the country while busking, turning the journey itself into a performance. Along the way, a television producer joins them to document the trip, adding another layer to their story.

As they travel, each confronts personal struggles—lost love, career frustrations, and the compromises of adulthood. Through music and shared experiences, they rediscover their friendship and the dreams they once abandoned.

The musical blends humor, nostalgia, and emotional reflection, presenting a road narrative centered on youth, healing, and the enduring power of music.

PRODUCTION NOTE

Blue Busking was created as a Korean jukebox musical featuring the songs of the band Monni, with participation from the band’s vocalist Kim Shin-ui. The work was uniquely planned as both a musical and a film project, later released as the film “Go, Busking.”

The musical premiered in 2015 at Kwanglim Art Center BBCH Hall and was revived in 2016 at a smaller venue, reflecting adjustments to improve narrative focus. It is notable for its “music road” concept, combining live band performance with a travel narrative structure.
