1. Overview
Housemates is a musical comedy written by Korean playwright Woori Han, exploring cultural differences, friendship, and belonging through a chaotic shared-living story. The piece premiered at The Tank’s Attic Studio in New York (Feb 17, 2024) before traveling to London’s Camden Fringe Festival (Aug–Sep 2024).
Blending English and Korean dialogue, the show follows two housemates — Yujin, a Korean student, and Zoe, her English flatmate — as they throw a wild graduation party that spirals into misunderstandings, secrets, and moments of heartfelt connection. The work balances absurd humor with themes of identity and cross-cultural empathy.

3. Critical Context
At its New York premiere, Housemates was described as “an absurdist musical comedy about Korean and American housemates just trying to throw a party in a sh*tty town in the outskirts of London” (BroadwayWorld). The London production expanded on the story’s multicultural elements, showcasing a playful yet poignant reflection on coexistence across cultures — an approach that resonated with diverse audiences at the Camden Fringe.
