短脖子长颈鹿奇奇
Giffy, the Short-Necked Giraffe (목 짧은 기린 지피) is a Korean original family musical based on a children’s book by Ko Jeong-wook, telling the story of a young giraffe who learns to embrace difference and courage. The show gained notable domestic recognition and was later introduced in China through an official K-Musical Roadshow showcase in 2018.
ORIGIN
Premiered in 2012, the musical was produced by the non-profit company Haneule and adapted from Ko Jeong-wook’s children’s book about diversity and self-worth. The piece was developed as a small-to-mid scale family musical emphasizing educational value, empathy, and interactive staging suitable for school groups and public audience runs. It earned multiple national awards early in its domestic life, helping establish the title as a repeatable repertory work in the Korean family musical market.
STORY
Giffy is a young giraffe born with a shorter neck than the others on the savannah. Teased and excluded, he struggles with shame until illegal hunters threaten the animals’ home. Teaming up with Tonga the zebra, another outcast with physical differences, Giffy discovers that what makes him different can also make him brave. The musical combines lively ensemble numbers with storytelling narration, aiming to teach children about inclusion, courage, and respect for all forms of life.
