フィーダシュタント

Widerstand (비더슈탄트) is a Korean original musical dramatizing the resistance movement inside Nazi Germany through the story of teenage fencers who uncover the truth behind their elite sports academy. After its 2022 premiere and 2023 revival in Seoul, the show received a licensed Japanese production in 2023 under the title フィーダシュタント.

ORIGIN

2022, book and lyrics by Jung Eunbi, music by Choi Daemyung, directed by Kim Taehyung, produced by Mystic Culture, premiered at Dream Art Center 3, Seoul. Developed through multiple Korean creation programs including the ARKO–K-Arts Academy, the Korea Arts Council’s New Works initiative, and KOCCA’s Glocal Musical Live, completing a five-year development process before premiere.

STORY

In 1938 Germany, seventeen-year-old Magnus enters a prestigious fencing school with his best friend Abel, only to discover that the academy is tied to the Nazi regime. As the boys and their teammates expose the school’s hidden purpose, they begin their own underground resistance while wrestling with loyalty, fear, and ambition. Magnus is further shaken when he gains favor from the academy’s ruthless director, forcing him to choose between personal glory and moral conviction.

GLOBAL STAGINGS & ADAPTATIONS

Licensed Japanese-language production titled フィーダシュタント
Presented March 16–26, 2023 at Nissho Hall, produced by LDH JAPAN
Directed by Hosaka You with translation and lyrics by Yasuda Yuko, the staging featured a full Japanese cast and live fencing choreography supervised by professional coaches. The production sold out its run and was promoted as a high-action Korean musical successfully adapted for the Japanese market.
