長壽湯仙女
The Bath Fairy (장수탕 선녀님) is a Korean family musical based on Baek Hee-na’s beloved picture book, blending gentle fantasy with nostalgic bathhouse imagery. Its 2024 Taipei showcase introduced the work to the Taiwanese market, marking an early step toward overseas family-musical exports.
ORIGIN
The musical premiered in 2021 at Shinhan Card FAN Square Live Hall, produced by Harlequin Creations Co., Ltd. Developed from Baek Hee-na’s award-winning picture book, the adaptation emphasized child-friendly storytelling and imaginative staging. It has since toured nationwide and was selected for a long-term run at Seoul Forest Theater. The work gained recognition for successfully translating the whimsical tone of the original book into a theatrical form.
STORY
The Bath Fairy follows a young child named Deokji, who visits the old neighborhood bathhouse “Jangsutang” and meets a mysterious fairy living in the cold bath. The fairy has lost her winged robe and cannot return to the sky, leading Deokji and the fairy to spend a magical day together. Through their brief friendship, the musical explores innocence, wonder, and the beauty of imagination. With simple staging and warm humor, it recreates the charm of the beloved picture book for audiences of all ages.
