Summary

A Korean original time-slip musical created by ProsLab, developed through the Wooran Foundation program, and premiered in Seoul in 2022.

Origin & Development

Let Me Fly was created by ProsLab and developed through the Wooran Foundation's new musical incubation program. Written by Minhyung Cho (book & lyrics) and composed by Chanhong Min, the musical premiered in Seoul in 2022. Its narrative blends romance, humor, and time-slip fantasy with a 1960s setting. 2022 – World Premiere (Seoul) / ProsLab, developed through the Wooran Foundation's creative support program. 2023–2027 – Revivals and regional runs, with encore productions featuring leading musical-theatre actors and ongoing touring within Korea.

Partial Synopsis

The musical begins in 1969, the night of the Apollo 11 moon launch, when Namwon — the town’s most talented tailor — dreams of becoming a fashion designer and imagines a bright future with Jungbun. Suddenly, he faints under the glow of the moon and awakens in 2020, where an elderly woman named Seonhee appears before him. As Namwon seeks a way back to 1969, the story unfolds as a warm reflection on love, destiny, regret, and the quiet beauty of an “ordinary” life. With gentle comedy and emotional intimacy, the musical asks what it means to live fully in the time we are given.

Produced by C MUSICAL (芯誠所製) in partnership with ProsLab, the production alternated a Taiwanese cast with three performances by a Korean cast and offered youth matinees. It kept the original score and narrative structure while localizing dialogue and 1960s period details; members of the Korean creative team appeared at curtain calls, and reviews noted its faithful tone and smooth lyric translation. It was the first international staging of Let Me Fly.
