SYNOPSIS
(Partial Synopsis)
Set ten years after their time at Kirin Arts High School, the musical unfolds as former students reunite at a turning point in their lives.
Song Sam-dong, once a rural student with dreams of music, has become a global K-pop star known as “The-K.” At the height of his success, he begins to suffer from tinnitus, forcing him to confront both his career and identity.
Returning to his alma mater, he finds that Kirin Arts High School is facing closure due to internal schemes and declining relevance. Former classmates—now teachers, performers, and struggling artists—also return, each standing at a crossroads between their youthful dreams and present realities.
As they reconnect, unresolved relationships and personal struggles resurface. Together, they attempt to protect the school that once shaped them, rediscovering the meaning of dreams, friendship, and perseverance.
PRODUCTION NOTE
The musical is based on the 2011 KBS television drama Dream High, which gained widespread popularity for its portrayal of aspiring performers in an arts high school. Rather than retelling the original story, the musical presents a continuation set approximately ten years later, reimagining the characters as adults navigating the realities of the entertainment industry.
Produced in a “show musical” format, the work emphasizes dance and performance, integrating K-pop-style choreography and live concert elements into its structure. The production features a large ensemble and incorporates both original songs and newly composed numbers, expanding beyond the narrative focus of the original drama.
Following its 2023 premiere, the musical returned in 2025 with an expanded scale, updated staging, and increased emphasis on performance-driven sequences.
