ヴィンセント・ヴァン・ゴッホ
Vincent van Gogh (빈센트 반 고흐) is a Korean original two-hander musical about the life and letters of Vincent and Theo van Gogh, produced by HJ Culture. The show premiered in Seoul in 2014 and has been repeatedly revived in Korea, followed by licensed productions in Japan and China.
ORIGIN
2014 premiere, written by Choi Yu-seon, composed by Sunwoo Jung-a, produced by HJ Culture, premiered at Chungmu Art Center (Seoul). Developed as a minimalist two-person musical using 3D projection mapping to animate van Gogh’s paintings onstage.
STORY
The musical follows Vincent and Theo through the 700 letters they exchanged over their lifetimes, moving between memory, artwork, and emotional conflict. The staging blends live acting with projected art, recreating Vincent’s evolving style from early realism to late expressionism. Themes include devotion, artistic obsession, and the cost of genius.

Licensed Japanese-language adaptation by Cube / C8 Productions
Staged with new direction and lyric translation, featuring multiple Vincent/Theo pairings and promoted as a two-actor musical with full projection staging.
China – Shanghai (2017)
Licensed Chinese-language production titled 《阿爾特·梵高》
Performed at Shanghai ET Space (Sep 30 – Oct 8, 2017) and later at Shanghai Grand Theatre (Dec 8–17, 2017). Received strong audience response for its visual mapping of Van Gogh’s artworks.
