ブラームス
Brahms (브람스) is a Korean original musical dramatizing the life, music, and inner conflicts of Johannes Brahms and his relationship with Clara and Robert Schumann. After its 2022 festival premiere and subsequent domestic stagings, the musical was introduced to Japanese industry audiences in 2023 through a K-Musical showcase in Tokyo.
ORIGIN
2022, written and directed by Son Sumin, produced by Breeze Musical Company, premiered as a supported work of the Daegu International Musical Festival (DIMF). Developed as an intimate biographical chamber musical focusing on the emotional and artistic triangle between Brahms, Clara Schumann, and Robert Schumann.
STORY
The young Brahms, discovered by violinist Joseph Joachim, is introduced to Robert and Clara Schumann, who recognize his genius. Brahms develops deep admiration and unspoken love for Clara while struggling with guilt, artistic identity, and the burden of expectations. The musical follows Brahms through artistic triumphs, emotional restraint, and the loneliness of a composer who pours his unfulfilled love into music.
