嘿!亞利桑那
Western Story (웨스턴 스토리) is a Korean original musical set in the American Wild West, combining comedy, action, and character-driven storytelling around a fake bounty hunt gone wrong. After its 2022 premiere and 2024 revival in Seoul, the show received its first licensed Mandarin adaptation in China under the localized title Hey! Arizona (嘿!亞利桑那).
ORIGIN
Premiered in 2022, produced by Neo Production. The musical was developed as a genre-parody of classic Western films, reimagining well-known historical figures and outlaw imagery through a comic narrative centered on a small desert saloon. The show features a small cast ensemble, rapid verbal humor, and a playful deconstruction of frontier mythology rather than historical realism.
STORY
In 1886 Arizona, Jane Johnson runs a failing saloon in the remote town of Green Valley City and dreams of escaping to New York. When she learns that three legendary outlaws each have bounties on their heads, she spreads a false rumor about a railroad being built nearby and puts the saloon up for sale to lure them in. But the three arrive not as real criminals, but as struggling actors impersonating them, and a vengeful gunslinger named Billy enters first, upset by a past family tragedy. With identities exposed and motivations clashing, the situation unravels into a comic chaos of deception, revenge, and accidental alliances. The musical ultimately shifts from a bounty plot to a story of found purpose and new beginnings.
