Zorba – Chú mèo thám tử
Cat Zorba (캣 조르바) is a Korean original family musical about a mother cat who sets out on a journey to reunite her lost family. First staged in 2015 at the National Museum of Korea’s Theater Yong, it has continued to recur in Korea and later entered the international market through a 2016 China showcase and a 2024–2025 Vietnam co-production.
ORIGIN
Produced by Double K Entertainment, premiered 2015 at Theater Yong, National Museum of Korea, Seoul. Developed as a family musical blending adventure, animal characters, and moral storytelling aimed at children and intergenerational audiences.
STORY
A mother cat named Zorba discovers that her kitten and mate have gone missing and begins a journey across land, sea, and city to find them. Along the way, she meets different animals, faces human threats, and overcomes obstacles through compassion and courage. The musical uses humor, simple dialogue, and emotionally driven songs to frame themes of family, perseverance, and love.

Cat Zorba was introduced as one of eight selected Korean titles alongside Hero, Arirang, Mata Hari, and Cloud Bread. The event was attended by Korean and Chinese cultural officials and industry delegates, functioning as a market introduction rather than a full licensed production.
Vietnam – Hanoi (2024–2025)
Licensed Vietnamese-language co-production titled Zorba – Chú mèo thám tử
Jointly produced by Vietnam Youth Theatre and SangsangMaru Theatre Company, premiered Jul 12, 2024
Featuring more than 40 Vietnamese and Korean artists, the adaptation expands the story into a detective fantasy set in the cat kingdom of Iper. Marketed as a major Vietnam–Korea cultural collaboration following two years of development.
