Crash Landing on You (사랑의 불시착) is a Korean musical adaptation of the global hit TV drama, centered on a cross-border romance between a South Korean heiress and a North Korean officer after a paragliding accident. The show premiered in Seoul in 2022 and was later staged in Japan in 2024, performed in Korean with Japanese subtitles.

ORIGIN
Premiered in 2022, produced by Pop Music and AST Camel (formerly T2N Media). Adapted from the 2019 Studio Dragon TV drama written by Park Ji-eun. The musical reimagines the drama’s North–South divide through theatrical staging, ensemble-based storytelling, and an original score framed around emotional duets and ensemble numbers. The premiere featured large-scale LED scenery and stylized depictions of Pyongyang, the DMZ, and Swiss locations referenced in the original series.
STORY
Yoon Se-ri, a South Korean chaebol heiress, crash-lands in North Korea during a paragliding accident and is discovered by Ri Jeong-hyuk, a principled North Korean officer. To protect her, he hides her in his home under the guise of being his fiancée, while he and his loyal unit attempt multiple failed plans to send her back across the border. As Se-ri and Jeong-hyuk grow closer, they face surveillance by State Security officer Cho Cheol-gang, complications involving Jeong-hyuk’s real fiancée Seo Dan, and the reappearance of Se-ri’s ex-fiancé Goo Seung-jun, who is hiding in North Korea under a false identity. The story follows whether Se-ri can return home—and whether love can survive separation, politics, and fate.

Korean-language production with Japanese subtitles – Licensed staging
Performed July 7–21, 2024, at the New National Theatre Middle Theater, Tokyo. The revival reunited the premiere Japanese-performance cast including Yoon San-ha (ASTRO), Kim Ryeo-won, JinJin (ASTRO), and Ji Soo-young (Weki Meki). Marketed as a high-demand restaging following the February 2024 Japanese premiere, the production emphasized the global popularity of the original drama and maintained the Korean script, supported by projected Japanese surtitles.
Japan, 2025 (Osaka)
Korean-language production with Japanese subtitles – Licensed staging
Performed December 6–14, 2025, at COOL JAPAN PARK OSAKA WW Hall. Produced by Studio Dragon, the musical adaptation of Crash Landing on You continues its Japanese run following the strong response to the February and July 2024 Tokyo performances. Based on the globally successful 2019 Korean television drama, the production retains its original Korean script and staging, supported by Japanese surtitles. The Osaka engagement reflects sustained demand for the musical in Japan and further extends the transnational reach of the original property.
