Summary
A Korean two-hander about a young man from juvenile detention and a terminally ill boy who help each other discover friendship, purpose, and the value of life.
Origin & Development
2014 (Seoul). Produced by LIVE Corp. The show premiered at the Hongik Daehangno Art Center Small Theater. Conceived as an intimate two-actor original musical, it continued to run in Korea through 2020, which helped establish it as a touring-friendly title. A notable development is its subsequent licensing to China and Japan. 2014 – premiere, LIVE Corp, Hongik Daehangno Art Center Small Theater; subsequent engagements through 2019 across multiple Seoul and regional venues (Daehangno, Chungmu Art Center Small Theater Blue, CJ Azit Daehangno, etc.). Recognized domestically as a repeatable small-theater property; selected as “Year’s Repertoire” within national creation-support programs during its growth period.
Partial Synopsis
Two 18-year-old boys—Kang-gu, a volatile ex-juvenile detainee, and Hae-gi, a terminal patient—strike an unlikely partnership to complete a bucket list. As Kang-gu works for hourly pay to help Hae-gi chase moments of meaning, the pair confront family wounds, friendship, music, and the urgency of time. Their journey builds toward a small concert that stands in for a promise kept, framing the show’s bittersweet, life-affirming tone.
