Origin & Development

Premiered in 2021 in Seoul. Created by writer-lyricist Han Jian and composer and music director Park Jung-ah, produced by Star’s Home. Developed through a tryout staging before its full premiere. 2021 tryout – 복합문화공간에무 팡타개라지. 2021 premiere – CJ Azit Daehakro. 2021 encore – CJ Azit Daehakro. The production was selected for CJ Cultural Foundation’s Space Support Program, which enabled its first full staging.

Partial Synopsis

Nova is a 40-year-old singer-songwriter who has spent thirteen years performing without success, working part-time jobs while still hoping to support his ill mother. One night, after another indifferent audience at the pub Stardust, he is approached by a mysterious figure in green gloves who claims to be an agent from outer space. The stranger insists that Nova is already a superstar on another planet and offers him fame, money, and devoted fans—if he leaves Earth forever. Nova must decide whether to abandon his stagnant life or stay and continue to struggle as an unknown artist.

Produced by Yitai Haoxi (FocusStage) and directed by Gao Ruijia, with Zhou Keren as music director, the adaptation kept the music-pub setting with localized dialogue and character names. It opened as an open-ended run at Star Space No. 8, the company's small theatre in Shanghai, where it was still playing in January 2022 alongside Apollonia (Mia Famiglia) and Santa Lucia (Mio Fratello).

The production later played the Beijing West District Theater and the Zhejiang Film Era M511 Future Cinema in Hangzhou, and was restaged in a 2.0 version with guest performers from outside musical theatre. Further runs were recorded in 2023 and from February 28 to December 14, 2025.
