Conceived as a compact, music-driven “author vs. character” chamber piece tracing Doyle’s decision to end—and later revive—Holmes. 2021 – Premiere (The Wave): Dream Art Center 2, 2021.02.15.–05.09, Seoul. Note: A showcase excerpt was introduced to Japanese audiences at the “K-Musical Roadshow in TOKYO” in 2023.
Partial Synopsis
Arthur Conan Doyle, a doctor and struggling writer, invents the perfect detective, Sherlock Holmes, whose popularity eclipses Doyle’s literary ambitions. Fiction and reality collide as Holmes materializes to debate his creator, culminating in the fateful “final problem.” Themes include authorship, identity, the cost of success, and the uneasy bond between artist and creation. Tone: intimate, fast-paced, reflective; musical style blends lyrical ballads with rhythmic, dialogue-driven numbers.

Alternating casts featured Kazuki Kato, Hiroshi Yazaki, and Hayate Takahashi as Arthur Conan Doyle and Daisuke Watanabe, Motohiro Ota, and Yoshiro Itokawa as Sherlock Holmes, with after-talk performances scheduled.
