SYNOPSIS

(Partial Synopsis from the Original Novel)

Set in contemporary Seoul, the story centers on an unconventional living arrangement that evolves into a complex emotional relationship.

Kim Do-il, a bachelor struggling to find housing, encounters Juri, a woman in a similarly precarious situation. The two agree to live together under specific conditions, posing as a married couple while maintaining emotional distance.

As their shared life unfolds, their relationship gradually shifts from convenience to genuine affection. Around them, other couples—particularly a disillusioned married pair—reflect contrasting models of love, including emotional detachment and morally ambiguous arrangements.

The narrative examines changing attitudes toward love, marriage, and intimacy among young urban Koreans, ultimately revealing both the fragility and sincerity of human connection.

제작 노트

Documentation for this production remains limited, with most surviving information derived from archival posters, press notices, and retrospective accounts.

A surviving program and poster confirm its staging at the Sejong Center in June 1979 and identify the work as a “disco musical,” reflecting the influence of contemporary popular music trends.

Produced by Musical Center Mireinae with music by Choi Chang-kwon, the work represents an early attempt to integrate rock-based sound and modern urban themes into Korean musical theatre.
