MJ 더 뮤지컬 (MJ the Musical)

A high-voltage tribute to Michael Jackson’s artistry, this front-row experience opened with “Beat It” and delivered thrilling choreography and immersive sound. While no one can truly replicate MJ’s voice, the show honored his legacy with sincerity and movement, ending in a concert-style finale that brought the crowd to its feet.

해밀턴 (Hamilton)

Hamilton pulsed with breath and rhythm. Dense lyrics flowed with clarity; history felt urgent, alive. Offbeat delivery made Hamilton thrilling, Jefferson disarmed with charm, and King George raged like a royal madman. It was more than brilliance—it was truth on fire. And in that fire, a spark: hope for a Korean licensed run.

백 투 더 퓨처 (Back To The Future)

A visually inventive and fast-paced adaptation of the classic film, this production blended humor, nostalgia, and theme park-level effects. With Roger Bart’s charismatic Doc and a sharply staged DeLorean sequence, the musical delivered high energy, clever wordplay, and a faithful yet self-aware take on the original story.

알라딘 (Aladdin)

A dazzling, family-friendly production full of Disney flair, with standout comedy from Iago, spectacular effects like the magic carpet ride, and a show-stealing Genie. Lighthearted on the surface, yet backed by tight vocals and staging that set a high bar for comparison.

스쿨 오브 락 (School of Rock)

This Seoul tour stop, led by the electrifying Conner Gillooly, brought rock ‘n’ roll spirit to the Opera Theater at Seoul Arts Center. Featuring a talented cast of real kid musicians, the show blends rock concert energy with a story of self-discovery — about kids finding their voices and adults remembering the dreams they left behind. It all builds to a crowd-cheering finale that truly sticks it to the man.

티나 (Tina: The Tina Turner Musical)

A powerful, groove-filled celebration of resilience and music, TINA: The Tina Turner Musical stunned me with its emotional force and stage energy. From a thundering opening to a roaring “Proud Mary” curtain call, the show honored Tina without imitation. I left unexpectedly moved — reminded of the strength it takes to reclaim your voice.

In the 2023 Broadway revival of Sweeney Todd, Josh Groban brings brooding depth, Annaleigh Ashford dazzles with wit, and a brilliant ensemble drives this darkly comic, sharply staged production.

하데스타운 (Hadestown)

A visually rich and musically haunting retelling of the Orpheus myth, featuring layered staging, powerful vocals, and elegant choreography — especially striking from a balcony view where the underworld's depth came alive.

라이온 킹 (Lion King)

Two visits to The Lion King — one just before the pandemic, one after — framed a journey of pause and renewal. The iconic opening and masterful puppetry captured Broadway’s resilience. From Rafiki’s call to the final reprise, the show radiated warmth and grandeur. The Circle of Life wasn’t just staged — it was lived. Returning felt like closing a loop, a reminder that theater stays with us, even when the world stops.

헤어스프레이 (Hairspray)

A vibrant, fast-paced production with infectious choreography, heartfelt humor, and powerful messages about equality and self-worth. After a few missed chances, I finally saw it just before its Broadway closing — and it exceeded expectations with joy, flair, and energy that filled the theater.
