(Full Synopsis)

Set during and after the Korean War, the musical unfolds in Seoul around the Han River, where ordinary citizens endure war, separation, survival, and eventual national transformation.

Unable to cross the Han River during the outbreak of war, civilians are thrust into hardship. Sun-cheol rescues Hee-sun, who has fallen into despair after receiving news of her fiancé’s death, and the two survive together through the devastation.

Thirty years later, Chang-ho returns to Seoul from South America with his daughter, moved by the country’s transformation. Through a reunion with people who shared wartime hardship—former shoeshine boys, pickpockets, and street children—the work connects memories of loss with hopes embodied by a new generation.

Using the Han River as a symbol shifting from war and division to prosperity and renewal, the musical reflects on modern Korean history and the unresolved pain of separation.
