Set across several decades in Korea, the musical unfolds through the life of a spirited young woman and her relationship with her mother, capturing the passage of time and the transformation of love between parent and child.

As a lively eighteen-year-old, Kim Bong-ran is a mischievous country girl, running through her village stealing melons and dreaming of becoming a singer. Despite her rebellious energy, she experiences her first love and tastes small triumphs, such as winning a local singing contest. Her strong-willed mother, however, constantly chases after her, scolding and disciplining her in a dynamic filled with both conflict and affection.

As time passes, Bong-ran becomes a mother herself. The narrative shifts to her adult life, portraying the everyday struggles, misunderstandings, and humorous episodes between her and her own daughter. Through marriage, childbirth, and the challenges of raising a family, she begins to understand the depth of her mother’s love.

Ultimately, as Bong-ran watches her daughter grow and becomes a mother in turn, she comes to recognize the sacrifices and unconditional love that defined her own upbringing.
