Randall Duk Kim is a Hawaiian-born Chinese-Korean American actor and one of the pioneering Asian-American classical stage performers in the United States. Raised near Honolulu, he trained under Kabuki master Onoe Kuroemon II and became one of the first Asian-American actors to lead a Shakespeare production in America, playing the title role in the Public Theater's 1974 Pericles, Prince of Tyre, and later Hamlet at the Guthrie Theatre (1978–79). He starred in the first professionally produced Asian-American play in New York, Frank Chin's The Chickencoop Chinaman (1972), and co-founded American Players Theatre in Wisconsin in 1977. He made his Broadway debut in the 1996 revival of The King and I, originating the Kralahome and later succeeding to the role of the King of Siam as a replacement. His other Broadway credits include the play Golden Child (1998) and the David Henry Hwang revision of Flower Drum Song (2002).
