Sangwoong Jo is a South Korean musical theatre actor who made his West End debut as Thuy in Miss Saigon at the Prince Edward Theatre in 2015. Before working in London, he had built a varied career in Korean productions, including Simba in Disney’s The Lion King, Marius in Les Misérables, Fiyero in Wicked, and Itsuki in Love Letter. Jo secured the Miss Saigon role through an audition process that included submitting recorded performances of Thuy’s musical material. He joined the production during its first major West End cast change, succeeding fellow Korean actor Kwang-Ho Hong, and remained with the company until the London revival closed in February 2016. His casting represents a direct transition from Korea’s licensed musical productions to a principal role in a major West End production.
