My Dariling, Kkocnim My Dear, Kkocnim (꽃님이 꽃님이 꽃님이) is an early Korean original musical by the Yegrin Musical Troupe that fused folk idioms with urban modernity while expanding the Korean musical form after Sweet, Come to Me Stealthily. Through comedy, romance, and musical contrast between countryside and Seoul, it helped define a distinctly Korean approach to musical theatre in the late 1960s.

Set in 1960s Korea, the musical unfolds between a rural village and Seoul, where a young bride’s encounter with modern urban temptation tests traditional values and emotional belonging.
Kkocnim, a naïve and spirited sixteen-year-old bride, is married into a village household but feels constrained by domestic expectations, particularly her mother-in-law’s nagging. Impulsively leaving for Seoul, she enters a dazzling but morally ambiguous city world whose glamour conceals danger and alienation. Through comic encounters and social satire, the city becomes both seduction and warning.
When her husband comes in search of her, the story resolves through return rather than rupture. Contrasting the warmth of rural life with the instability of urban modernity, the musical frames reconciliation as a recovery of human and communal values. Folk-inflected humor, stylized musical numbers, and romantic comedy reshape what began as melodramatic material into a lighter but ideologically pointed work.

Premiered in 1967 as Yegreen’s second major original musical, this work is often discussed as a companion development to Saljjagi Opseoye, but with a stronger negotiation between “Koreanness,” modern popular idioms, and urban-rural contrast. Scholars have noted its role in shaping a prestige model of Korean musical theatre while simultaneously borrowing conventions from popular entertainment.
The English title follows the official digital music release spelling as registered in Apple Music, Shazam, and Spotify: My Dariling, Kkocnim My Dear, Kkocnim. The spelling “Dariling,” including its apparent misspelling, is intentionally retained here as an official-source transcription.
