사랑의 불시착
Crash Landing On You (사랑의 불시착) is a Korean musical adaptation of the globally popular television drama, depicting a cross-border romance between a South Korean heiress and a North Korean officer following an unexpected accident. The work explores love, identity, and division through the realities of North–South Korea.
SYNOPSIS
(Full Synopsis)
Set across South Korea and North Korea, the musical unfolds after an unexpected accident forces two individuals from opposing sides of the Korean peninsula into each other’s lives.
Yoon Se-ri, a successful South Korean businesswoman and chaebol heiress, is caught in a paragliding accident and crash-lands in North Korea. She is discovered by Ri Jeong-hyuk, a disciplined North Korean officer, who decides to hide her and help her return home.
As Se-ri lives under concealment in the North, she encounters the daily lives of North Korean citizens and gradually forms close relationships with Jeong-hyuk and his unit. Their efforts to secretly send her back repeatedly fail, while surveillance by State Security officer Cho Cheol-gang intensifies the danger surrounding them.
Complications arise with the presence of Seo Dan, Jeong-hyuk’s arranged fiancée, and Goo Seung-jun, Se-ri’s former fiancé who is also hiding in North Korea under a false identity.
As Se-ri and Jeong-hyuk grow closer, their relationship deepens into love despite the political and physical barriers between them. Ultimately, the story centers on whether Se-ri can safely return to South Korea and whether their love can endure separation shaped by national division and fate.
제작 노트
The musical is based on the 2019 tvN drama written by Park Ji-eun and produced by Studio Dragon, which achieved global success through streaming platforms. The stage adaptation was produced by Pop Music and AST Camel and premiered in Seoul in 2022.
Rather than replicating the full episodic structure of the original series, the musical condenses the narrative into a stage format, emphasizing emotional arcs and relationships. It incorporates large-scale LED staging and stylized representations of locations such as Pyongyang, the DMZ, and Switzerland, while structuring the score around duet-driven emotional storytelling and ensemble numbers.
From its initial production, the musical was positioned for international expansion, particularly in Japan, where subsequent performances and localized adaptations followed.
